Sicklesteel Cranes, Inc. has provided Lift Directors since 1989, making it the first company in the Pacific Northwest to provide this service. Effective Lift Directors implement lift management systems which address pre-planning, monitoring of the lift plan, documentation and safety.
Operated crane rental can be expensive, especially if the plans are being modified while the crane sits by waiting for direction. As a project progresses, the ability to make changes quickly diminish while the costs of modifications substantially increase. Sicklesteel's planning process has earned the reputation of being effective, efficient, and safe. In fact, a number of times, Sicklesteel competed against another crane company utilizing the competitor's equipment and won the bid due to the advantages gained through Sicklesteel's planning.
As important as pre-planning is, inevitably there are challenges that arise while implementing the work. Sicklesteel's experienced Lift Directors play a critical role in being responsive to a changing lift plan. For critical situations, Sicklesteel Cranes, Inc. can utilize its Lift Design capabilities to accurately analyze the changes and provide solutions. On jobs where there are a number of cranes being managed, Sicklesteel's Lift Directors monitor crane utilization, schedules, and configuration requirements to look for additional savings.
Prior to the crane arriving on the site, Sicklesteel's Lift Director verifies that all required documentation has been obtained such as daily inspection logs, crane certification, operator certification, signal person qualification, rigger qualification, and assembly/disassembly director qualifications. Once the crane arrives, the Lift Director will hold safety meetings on a routine basis to assist with the communication of safety items, hazard mitigation, and work plans.
